Amanuensis Monday... William Bean

This is a copy of the marriage bond for William Bean to marry Rachel Wiseman.

It reads as follows:

Know all men by these presents that

we William Bean & Joseph Wiseman

are held and firmly bound unto James

Burton, governor of Virginia and his successors

in the penalty of $150  this 20th November 1813 - with condition

that there is no legal cause to obstruct

a marriage intended to be solemnized

between the William Bean & Rachel

Wiseman then the above obligation

to be void Else to remain in full

force -

William M. Bean was born 18 Sep 1792. Rachel Wiseman 23 Apr 1790. The couple were wed in Monroe County, [West] Virginia on the above date. They went on to have 13 children.

This couple were my great-great-grandparents.
