Miss Betty Jo
Thompson Engaged To
Marry Jack B. Ashley
On October 17
Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Thompson, of 716 Herman Street are
announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss
Betty Jo Thompson to Jack B. Ashley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Ashley of 314
Fourth Avenue.
The wedding will be performed at the Central Baptist church
Friday afternoon, October 17, by the church pastor, the Rev. H.P. Hackney, in
the presence of the immediate families.
Miss Thompson is a graduate of Hinton High school with the
class of 1952 where was active in school activities. She was co-editor of The
Dart, feature editor of the Hinton Hi-Times and was a member of the Girls
Athletic Association, Quill and Scroll, and Seventeen club.
The bride-elect also serves as president of the Baptist
Youth Fellowship, member of the Dora Lee Allen Mission Guild and Young Peoples
choir of the Central Baptist church.
Her fiancé attended Beckley schools, is a graduate of Hinton
High School, and also the Cayce Electric School of Chicago, Illinois. He also
served with the United States Army for a year stationed at Fort Sam Houston,
Texas, and is now employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company.
