Family Recipe Friday- Sh*t

I am told the story goes that my dear Mother-in-Law, Betty Rotge Custer, came up with this recipe one evening when trying to make something that would feed her rather large family of 7 children and her and dear FIL. After cooking the meal, and preparing to serve it, she asked FIL what he thought of her effort. And his response was, "It looks like Sh*t!"

And thus, it became, forevermore, "Sh*t".

"Sh*t"

Ingredients:
1-lb. ground hamburger
1-lb. elbow macaroni
1 large can diced tomatoes [do not drain]
2 cans tomato sauce
1 large onion diced
1 large green bell pepper diced
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1 tablespoon Cholula brand hot sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:
Cook macaroni according to package directions.
Meanwhile, brown hamburger in large skillet over medium heat with onion and bell pepper.
Add seasonings.
When hamburger is browned, add tomatoes and tomato sauce to skillet, and heat thoroughly.
Drain macaroni.
In a large bowl, mix macaroni and meat mixture.

May top with grated mozzarella or parmesan cheese if desired.

Serves 6-8.
